M5D-Airfox operates in FLOTEX23, the largest annual exercise of the Spanish Navy

Marine Instruments has successfully participated in FLOTEX 23, the most advanced manoeuvres organised by the Spanish Navy, held in Western Mediterranean waters.
From 5 to 16 June, Marine Instruments has operated the M5D-Airfox, its solar UAV for surveillance missions at sea, which was acquired by the Navy at the end of 2022. In fact, the participation of unmanned vehicles (UAVs), both surface and aerial, is one of the novelties of this edition, although, in the case of the Spanish Navy, they have been experimenting with the integration of UAVs in naval operations for two years now.
The systems operated at FLOTEX, like the M5D-Airfox, are of Spanish design and production and also contribute, on the one hand, to the development of national technological innovation, but also allow the Navy to be technologically at the forefront.
In total, more than 4,700 troops, 19 ships, 2 submarines, 16 aircraft and 80 marine infantry vehicles, from the Spanish Navy and units from countries such as the USA, France, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Canada, Latvia and Turkey, have been deployed for this annual advanced level exercise. Thus, FLOTEX is a training test for the Navy in the entire spectrum of naval operations in which its own capabilities are evaluated, as well as the degree of interoperability and coordination between units from different origins.
