Marine Instruments receives the Avion Revue Award in the Drones category
9 January 2023

Marine Instruments, a Galician company that manufactures and develops high technology for the marine environment, has received the Avion Revue Award for Excellence 2022 in the Drones category. The award specifically recognises the functionality and efficiency of the M5D-Airfox solar drone, an unmanned aerial vehicle designed specifically for use from naval platforms and to operate from the sea. This innovative UAV effectively undertakes maritime surveillance, tracking and detection of military targets and is authorised to operate beyond visual range.
Thanks to its versatility, the M5D-Airfox has recently been acquired by the Spanish Navy to serve the Mine Action Force (MCM) and also holds a coastal surveillance contract with the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food for the detection of illegal fishing. These examples are the result of numerous tests conducted with NATO, the US Navy and the Navy in which the drone has supported ISR missions, successfully completed all phases and developed product improvements in order to adapt to customer needs.

Awards for aeronautical excellence
The Avion Revue Awards, now in their sixth year, are the only independent awards for outstanding performance in the aeronautical industry. These awards have been granted by the magazine’s editorial team and their intention is to recognise Excellence in the sector, a job well done and the search for constant improvement by companies and relevant personalities in categories such as sustainability, military aviation, industry, or aeronautical training, among others. The award winners were announced with the publication of the Avion Revue Yearbook.
